A small silver bead or crimp bead used with wire or thread serves the same function as a crimp sleeve. This bead is also used in the making of necklaces with so-called “floating” beads. When the bead is clamped shut, it prevents the beads from moving along the wire.
No special tools are required; simply squeeze the bead with a needle-nose pliers to flatten it, or crimp it with a micro crimper.
